PSYCHIATRIC REHABILITATION . . .

AMI, Inc. of Washington-Greene Counties is a non-profit agency that provides licensed psychiatric rehabilitation to adults recovering from mental illness.

Over the last five years AMI, Inc. has been establishing a recovery oriented approach across all of the services provided including the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program.

Recovery from mental illness is a deeply personal journey in which one begins to tackle the adverse impact of experiencing mental health problems, despite their continuing or long term presence. Recovery starts with the individual and works from the inside out.  For this reason it is personal and challenges traditional approaches.  This is where Psychiatric Rehabilitation begins.

Psychiatric Rehabilitation interventions are designed to assist the person to develop, reach and maintain goals of their choice.  For this to occur, AMI, Inc. adheres to the practices as listed in the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Medical Necessity Criteria and Standards for the state of Pennsylvania.

Interventions used at AMI, Inc., in both group and individual sessions are from approved, evidence based models which include, but are not limited to:

  • The Boston Model

  • Lieberman Social Skills Model

  • WRAP (wellness Recovery Action Plan)

  • Symptom Management

PSYCHOSOCIAL REHABILITATION . . .

The recovery concept and coping skills

      Developing and maintaining relationships

      Using the community support system

      Leisure management

Developing and maintaining skills and supports

Currently, AMI, Inc. assists about 100 adults at Washington and Waynesburg sites. Consumers who attend the AMI, Inc. program live in board and care homes, with their families or independently.
